The Bamileke-Bakwa have a 13th century princess named Wouten as their ancestor.
The Bamileke-Bakwa are excellent farmers and businesspeople. Women as well as men run successful businesses. Typically, men clear fields and women do the hoeing, etc. Their staple foods include maize and peanuts.
Bamileke-Bakwa settlements are centered around a chief. He is the “father” of the chieftain, and they take great care when selecting a new chief. That involves an election by those who will submit to his authority. A chief has nine ministers and many advisory councils.
Though most Bamileke-Bakwa have a Christian background, they still worship their ancestral spirits, and they venerate the dead. Family members keep the skull of deceased ancestors in a special dwelling selected by a diviner.
The Bamileke-Bakwa people need to put all their trust in Jesus Christ rather than ancestral spirits.
Pray for Bamileke-Bakwa individuals who love the Lord to disciple others who in turn will disciple their family members.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to draw Bamileke-Bakwa elders to the throne of grace.
Pray for Bamileke-Bakwa churches to be willing to submit to the Lord in repentance and love.
