Introduction / History

There are less than 500 people who speak Boor. This language will probably be replaced by other languages in the decades to come.

Where Are they Located?

Boor speakers live only in southern Chad. The few who speak this language live in Dumraw village, the Bousso subprefecture, and the Sarh Rural subprefecture.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most likely, the Boor speakers are farmers. Cotton is one of the main crops in their area.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The primary religion practiced by Boor speakers is Islam, a monotheistic religion built around the teachings of the Koran and of the prophet Mohammad. Like most Muslims outside of Saudi Arabia, the Boor people blend their devotion to Allah with worship of spirits.

What Are Their Needs?

Boor is listed as an "endangered" language. Those who speak Boor need to adjust to merging with other languages and cultures as their own language dies out. There are no Christian resources in the Boor language, so they will need to hear of the Savior in another tongue.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to reveal Himself to Boor speakers in such a way that they will understand that he is the way, the truth, and the life.
Pray for a spiritual hunger among Boor speakers in Chad.
Pray for Boor speakers to be disciple in the ways of Christ.
