Introduction / History

The Kamentsas live in the Putumayo department of Colombia.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Kamentsas are mainly farmers who grow potatoes, cassavas, bananas and other fruits. They are clearing more land to make way for raising livestock. Some are trying to invite a tourist industry. Their women are keeping their musical style alive, not only for tourists, but for the next generation.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Kamentsas are mainly shamanists. Many of their beliefs involve symbolism. A little less than half are Christian, mainly Roman Catholic.

What Are Their Needs?

They need protection from outside forces. Outsiders want to exploit their land through deforestation and mining.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to protect the Kamentsas from exploitation and injustice.
Pray for the Kamentsas to have the spiritual hunger it takes to embrace Jesus and forsake all others.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to send revival fire to all Kamentsa churches.
