The Tagbanwa are one of the oldest people groups in the Philippines. The Spaniards ruled them for some time.
The Central Tagbanwa live in the eastern and western coastal region of central Palawan in Aborian, Quezon and other places. They speak the language of Central Tagbanwa which could be going extinct. They also speak Palawano.
The Tagbanwa are monogamous and live in houses made of bamboo and wood. They make baskets, woodcarvings and mats which is their main income. They cultivate rice and mix it with sweet potatoes. They also gather and sell forest products and honey. The Tagbanwa like music, dancing and drama as well as craft work.
The Tagbanwa have their own religion and they believe that the living and the dead communicate with each other. They have four main gods and rituals are performed for them.
The Tagbanwa people need Jesus to work in their families and transform their communities. They need his holiness and goodness in their lives.
Pray that Christians in other Tagbanwa tribes will lead the Central Tagbanwa to Jesus Christ.
Pray that gospel materials in a format they like will lead them to salvation.
Pray for Tagbanwa disciples to make more disciples.
