The environment in southern Sudan presents challenges, such as seasonal flooding and droughts, which can threaten their food security. Despite these hardships, the Delen have developed resilience through traditional knowledge and communal cooperation.
What Are Their Beliefs?
The Delen people practice a blend of traditional animist beliefs and Christianity, influenced by missionary activity in the 20th century. Their traditional beliefs include reverence for ancestors, spirits and natural forces, which they believe govern the land and its fertility.
