Introduction / History

The ancestors of the French Canadians came from France and settled in Canada in the 1600s and 1700s. After France’s loss to the British in the French and Indian War, French settlers came under British rule. Most live in Canada, though a small number are in the United States. A smaller number have returned to Europe where they live in Austria.

What Are Their Lives Like?

French-Canadians have blended in well in Austria. They can hold just about any kind of job.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Among French Canadians there is a disdain for religion, especially Christianity. Most are now secularized while others are ready to adopt New Age beliefs.

What Are Their Needs?

Today there is a spiritual vacuum among French Canadians, and many are open to talk about spiritual issues. The gospel needs to be presented in non-conventional ways with a clear distinction between Catholic religion and a personal relationship with Chris

Prayer Points

Pray for French Canadians in Austria to see the difference between religious institutions and a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray for them to find the humility to take Christ’s yoke upon them and have rest for their souls.
Pray for French-Canadian Christ followers to disciple others in Austria.
