Introduction / History

The ancestors of the Karao people arrived in their current homeland in the late 1800s.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Karaos have special sleeping quarters for boys, girls and newlyweds. They have rituals regarding all stages of life including birth, courtship, marriage, divorce, pregnancy and death. They also have rituals for their harvests including a ritual of thanksgiving. They are rice farmers, but they also grow fruits and vegetable and raise livestock like cattle, pigs and chickens.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Their traditional god is Kubunian. They are dedicated to their own ethnic religion, though there are Christians among them.

What Are Their Needs?

The Karao people need to center their lives around the teachings and the person of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points

Pray for a spiritual revival among the Karao people that will lead them to the cross and the empty grave.
Pray for Karao elders to have dreams and visions that will lead them to Jesus.
