Ironically, Libya once was a country that took in foreigners; now they are going to other parts of the world. Since 2011 Libya has yet to see a government that is able to impose effective law and order over the heavily armed population. As a result, there have been up to two million Libyans who've fled their home country for peaceful ones like the UAE.
Libyans who reach the UAE are most likely to be those with money and marketable skills. Libyan businessmen and teenagers are also discovering the internet, where Christian sites may lend additional witnessing opportunities in more of a private setting.
Simon of Cyrene, who carried the cross of Jesus, was from Libya, and Cyrenian Jewish carried the gospel back to Libya after Pentecost. Islam replaced Christianity in 624 A.D., and they have never looked back. Libyans remain solidly Sunni Muslim. Most Libyan Arabs are not aware of what Christians really believe. Because of their strong Muslim roots, even if they had an opportunity to hear the gospel, they would not initially consider the message as having anything to do with them.
Libyan Arabs are one of the most unreached people groups in the world even when they leave their Sunni Muslim country.
Pray for Libyans in the UAE to have the opportunity to hear of the Risen Lord and hearts that are willing to live for Him. Pray for workers to go to the Libyans in the UAE.
