Introduction / History

The word Mana means "honor." The Mana of India are also called Mane. They speak Marathi and live mainly in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Mana are landowners who work in agriculture. They have several clans and they don't allow marriage among the different clans. Weddings are sometimes arranged by their family leaders, but at other times the groom "earns" his wife by working for her family. However, most families prefer to pay a dowry. Unlike most Hindus they can either bury or cremate the dead.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Hinduism is their religion. They sometimes worship snakes.

What Are Their Needs?

As far as we know there are no Christ followers among the Mana people. They need someone to take them the gospel of grace.

Prayer Points

Pray that God will give the Mana dreams and visions leading them to salvation. Pray that gospel materials will lead them to begin their own movement to Christ. Pray that their leaders will allow their people to enjoy all the blessings of the lordship of Jesus Christ. Pray for workers.
