Introduction / History

The Paezs live in the southwestern highlands of Colombia.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Paezs live in the Andes Mountains. To protect themselves from the cold, they build their homes out of cement, wood, brick and metal.

They are mainly agricultural, but the women raise sheep. They clean the wool, spin yarn from it and dye it. Then they knit clothes for their families.

Paez culture calls for strict punishments. Sometimes that means flogging, other times it means being dunked in the icy mountain water.

What Are Their Beliefs?

About two-thirds of them are Christian. Among these half are Catholic and the other half are Evangelical. They can be a mission force to other tribes in Colombia.

What Are Their Needs?

The Paez tribe needs protection. They live in a part of Colombia where they find themselves vulnerable to rebels and paramilitary forces.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to prepare and thrust out Paez evangelists and disciplers to work among less-reached tribes.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to bless Paez families in every way.
Pray for their churches to learn from the Bible and train people in the ways of Jesus.
