Introduction / History

The Pwo Rachaburi Karen are a branch of the Karen S'gaw after being driven a few hours south of Chiang Mai because of tribal war. They have three villages including one in Phrae, below Lampang (lam-puun). These villages are in rural areas and are located far away from big cities.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They live in a rural community of wooden houses raised above the ground. The people there grow rice and vegetables, and weave clothing and purses.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They have a strong fear and respect for evil spirits and try to honor them by offering them food daily in spirit houses on their property. They believe if they please the spirits, then they will have prosperity.

What Are Their Needs?

Their physical needs are for medical support and a full harvest. They need to know that the Holy Spirit is stronger than the evil spirits, and that the Holy Spirit brings life.

Prayer Points

Pray that Pwo Rachaburi Karen hearts will be softened to God's love, and God's healing power would be released in the village.
Pray for them to not blame Christians when bad things happen.
Pray for Pwo Rachaburi Karen Christ followers to disciple others.
Pray for an abundant harvest this year as a testimony of God’s power and goodness.
