Introduction / History

The word Saba is Arabic for east, which reminds them that their ancestor Dolle came from the east. The Saba trace themselves back to a common father, whose name was Dolle. He came from afar and settled at the foot of the mountain called Takung.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Saba enjoy celebrations and dances. They will often stay up until late in the evening to joyfully jump, sing and dance. These festivities also include a time of singing together.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Although the Saba are surrounded by Muslim groups, they still respect the "margay," the spirits which inhabit the hills, the trees, the dry riverbeds, and the animals. The Saba live their lives very carefully, not desiring to offend or anger the margai. As far as they are concerned, no calamity comes upon any of them by accident. The margai spirits cause them.

What Are Their Needs?

The Saba people need to submit to Jesus Christ so they can experience the abundant life he offers them in John 10:10.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to provide an abundant harvest for the Saba people this year as a testimony of his love and power. Pray that the Saba people will have a spiritual hunger that will open their hearts to the King of kings. Pray for workers who are driven by the love and boldness of the Holy Spirit to go to them. Pray for a movement to Christ among them to begin this decade.
