Introduction / History

Gili Trawangan is the largest of three tiny Indonesian islands. The Tereweng people live there. They have their own language, spoken by the small people group.

What Are Their Lives Like?

One can only get there by boat since there is no airport. Even then, it will take a fast boat since Gili Trawangan Island is remote. However, it attracts tourists who want to explore caves and enjoy beautiful, pristine beaches.

Terewengs commonly work in the tourist industry. They also fish and grow rice and other crops for local consumption. One of the biggest challenges of living on a small island is most things need to be shipped in. That means high prices and scarcities.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Terewengs have their own traditional religion, which they have maintained through the centuries. We know of no Christ followers among the Tereweng.

What Are Their Needs?

The Terewengs need a gospel message. As it stands, they put their faith in wicked spirits.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring them Jesus, the way, the truth and the life.
Pray there will soon come a day when Tereweng disciples will be making more disciples.
Pray they will see that only Jesus Christ can save them from sin.
