Introduction / History

Ormuri is the language of the Ormur/Baraki tribe in Pakistan s Waziristan, Pakistan and in a small part of Logar Province, Afghanistan. This language is endangered. It has two dialects.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Ormuri people in Afghanistan live among Tajiks and Pashtuns. Most Ormuri people also speak one of these more dominant languages. Like the neighboring peoples, the Ormuri probably herd livestock and do so some farming.

What Are Their Needs?

Current needs are many. Communication is difficult because of remoteness, topography, and erratic weather. Health care is virtually non-existent and schools are few. There is an urgent need for roads to provide access for medical supplies and food.

Prayer Points

Pray the Ormuri would see they do not have to live in slavery to spirits if they put their trust in Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Lord to intervene in Ormuri families, calling people to his side.
Pray for loving workers.
Pray for their hearts to be drawn to the Lord of lords.
Pray for a church planting movement to thrive among the Ormuris.
