The Yoidik people live along unspoiled beaches about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Madang town. They all speak the Yoidik language as their primary language. Their language is also used as a second language by the Matukar people of the neighboring village.
The North Coast highway runs by their land, connecting them to services and markets. They enjoy access to a health center, elementary and primary schooling and to a vocational school, but not to a high school. Their well-stocked waters and fertile soils provide them with plenty to sell at the markets along the highway.
Most Yoidik people identify as Roman Catholics. The Yoidik people do not have a translation of the Bible in their own language, nor do they have access to gospel recordings or to biblical radio broadcasts in Yoidik.
The Yoidik people need better schools and medical facilities.
Ask God to assign workers to help translate the Bible into a language that the Yoidik people understand, and into a medium that they can easily access (whether audio or otherwise).
Pray the Yoidik people receive the spiritual, medical and educational opportunities they need to flourish.
Pray that their crops remain profitable and that the people remain healthy.
Pray that they will know they are loved by God and will eagerly desire to know him.
