Introduction / History

There are two tribes with the same name: Yombe. Their language is Kiyombe, and they live in three countries: Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo and Republic of Congo. Their language is Kiyombe.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Yombes are known for their skill in producing crafts. The men weave, smelt and carve wooden images. Women produce clay goods.

They are agricultural. Their crops include peanuts, yams, plantains, corn, beans and manioc. Yombe families keep chickens, goats and pigs for their meat supply.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Their traditional deity is Ngoma Bunzi, who lives in an unreachable realm. They build shrines to this deity. Most are also Roman Catholic.

What Are Their Needs?

The Yombe people need adequate medical facilities and reliable, clean water.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Yombe s physical and spiritual needs to be met by God s provisions.
Pray for them to have the spiritual hunger it takes to seek and embrace Jesus Christ no matter how much it costs.
Pray that soon there will be Yombe disciples making more disciples.
