Introduction / History

The Budhan are a Muslim community that lives in the northern Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. A larger number live in the Pakistani side of that border.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Their cuisine includes kebabs and biryanis, a spicy rice dish. They are mainly farmers and livestock herders who also engage in local trade. Trade is difficult in this war-torn land where roads are sometimes scarce.

What Are Their Beliefs?

This Muslim community highly values education. Though they are officially Sunni Muslim, many engage in the more emotional and mystical Sufi practices. There are many Sufi shrines in their homeland.

What Are Their Needs?

The Budhan people are often poor, but they are improving their lot as more become entrepreneurs. They face the danger from the low-level fighting that takes place involving forces from India, Pakistan and local militias.

Prayer Points

Pray for many from this unreached people group to understand both God’s judgment and his majestic glory and goodness.
Pray for loving workers to go to the Budhan people, and for their hearts to be ready to receive their savior.
Pray for a chain reaction of families reaching families that result in thousands of new disciples who share their faith with others.
Pray for grace and truth expanding into their entire society as all believers learn to love others.
