The Sale Mala are a Scheduled Caste, meaning that they have low to average standing as a Hindu community. They live in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The Sale Mala speak Telugu.
They are not vegetarians, but they do not eat beef and pork. They were once known for being weavers but farming is now their main work. Most of them are very poor. The Sale Mala often marry their cousins.
As Hindus they depend on the gods and spirit beings who they believe will provide them with protection and favor.
They have a low literacy level so the gospel will need to be offered in oral form.
Pray for intercessors and workers to faithfully adopt the Sale Mala people. Pray for spiritual hunger that will lead them to the only savior. Pray for them to understand that the Lord can provide for all of their physical and spiritual needs.
