The Tili tribe is a subgroup of the Bengali people and one of the oldest indigenous peoples in that part of the world. Their language is known as Tili or Bengal-Tili.
Though the majority live in India, some live in the Rangpur Division of Bangladesh.
Vermilion, bracelets, a finger-ring, earrings, and a nose-stud are the symbols of married women, but this varies by location. Marriage is solemnized according to Hindu Vedic rites at the bride's residence.
They are Hindu and worship family, village and regional deities such as Ganesh, Manasa, Kali, Thakurani, and Gamota. They have sacred specialists from their own and other communities who perform rites connected with life-cycle rituals and who treat diseases.
The Tili people desperately need the oil of the Holy Spirit to bless their communities in both India and Bangladesh.
Pray for loving disciplers to go to the Tili people and teach them to obey all Jesus taught.
Pray the Tili people in Bangladesh will understand their need for Jesus Christ as the only savior from sin and death.
Pray for the light of the gospel to penetrate the hearts and minds of Tili elders.
