Introduction / History

Totoros are an indigenous group in Colombia. They have lost their language and replaced it with Spanish. Only a few elderly people speak their traditional language.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Within their reservation, the Totoros are usually farmers. Because this location is cold, they grow onions, potatoes and pumpkins, which grow well is such a climate. They practice slash-and-burn farming.

Everyone chooses their own spouse; parents have little say regarding whom their children will marry. Relationships are spontaneous as are sexual encounters before marriage.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Almost three-fourths of the Totoros are Christian, usually Roman Catholic. However, there are Evangelicals among them.

What Are Their Needs?

The Totoros are trying to recover their traditional language and culture. This is very difficult since the process of assimilation has been going on for generations.

Prayer Points

Pray for Jesus Christ to be put first in their churches and for their spirituality to center around him.
Pray for Totoro disciples to disciple others.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in their churches, drawing them into a close relationship with the Lord.
