Introduction / History

The ethnic background of the Tungur people is unknown, though some scholars believe they have roots among the Arab peoples of North Africa. Hundreds of years ago they were merged with one of the Fur tribes, but before that happened, the last Tungur leader was driven out because he compelled his subjects to dig wells and level a mountain peak.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Like most of the other peoples in this part of the world, the Tungur people are farmers and livestock herders.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They are Muslims who blend true Islam with ancient beliefs in the spirit world.

What Are Their Needs?

The Tungur people need to hear about Jesus Christ, the only one who can bless them for now and eternity.

Prayer Points

Pray that this will be the year when there will be the first believers among the Tungur people of Sudan. Pray for the Holy Spirit to woo them to the side of the True God. Pray for them to be discipled in the ways of Jesus Christ, the only savior.
