Introduction / History

The Quillasingas (AKA, Pasto) are a tribal people that have lived in Colombia for thousands of years. Their territory was far greater than it was after the Spanish conquest.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Quillasingas are mainly farmers, but some work in an urban environment.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Quillasinga spirituality is tied in with the earth. They value balance in the universe and perform rituals and ceremonies that they believe will achieve that goal. Part of their spirituality is tied in with ancestral spirits.

They are almost half Roman Catholic. Evangelicals make up a minority as well.

What Are Their Needs?

The Quillasingas are striving to maintain their culture. They have already lost their language which Spanish have replaced.
