Introduction / History

The Shawafna people group live in six villages along with the Borono tribe. The Shawafna are rural farmers in Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan in Sudan.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They farm sorghum, corn, and keep cattle, sheep and goats. In the rainy season when the cows get enough water the people enjoy drinking fresh milk.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They are Muslims who also practice tribal religion.

What Are Their Needs?

Services among this tribe are limited with a single primary school for education, limited boreholes for water, and very rudimentary health services. They are ready to receive missionaries.

Prayer Points

Pray the hearts of the Shawafna people would be stirred to hunger after God, to drink of living water.
Pray for family-based Disciple Making Movements to soon transform Shawafna society, blessing them spiritually and economically.
Pray for the Lord to move in the hearts of believers to give up their own rights and sacrifice their lives to see the Shawafna people blessed by the work of Jesus Christ, the only savior.
