Introduction / History

The Batsbians (or Batsbi as they call themselves) are a small ethnic group often called "the Tsova Tush" living in the Akhmetsk region in Georgia. The Batsbians are the descendants of the Ingush and the Chechens who migrated to East Georgia at the beginning of the nineteenth century. They speak the Batsbi (Tsova-Tushian) and Georgian languages. Georgian is also the literary language. Batsbian every day life has many Georgian cultural elements. Gradually, the Batsbians assimilate with Georgians.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Their religion is Orthodox Christian.
