The ancestors of the Ewe migrated from the Northeast of Africa, down to the Nile valley, through Abyssinia, Chad, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso before finally settling beyond the Niger bend in the countries of Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana. Today Ewes are located in Ghana, Togo, Benin, SW Nigeria, Southern Burkina Faso, southern Cote d Ivoire, USA, Canada and Italy.
Ewe are very industrious. They are mainly occupied in trade, commerce, agriculture, fishing and weaving. Ewe are also heavily into professional occupations in law, medicine, business and finance, etc.
The Ewe believe in the supreme God, whom they call Mawu, which means, The One who exceeds all else. The Ewe also call on lesser gods; their clan and family deities. Totemism is part of the culture. Each clan and family has an animal totem.
There is also a strong Christian presence among the Ewe people. A high percentage are Evangelical in the West African countries.
The Ewes need to send their own as ambassadors of the Living God to those who need his blessings.
Pray for God to bless the Ewe people in every way, leading them to greater gratitude and devotion.
Pray that soon Ewe disciples will make more disciples throughout West Africa.
Pray for the Lord to raise up Ewe Christians with the gift of healing to show God s power and love to many.
