The Baiswar derive their name from Bais, a Rajput clan. They place themselves among the Vaisya in the Varna system. Monogamy is the common practice but polygyny (men having more than one wife) is allowed. Marriages are arranged through negotiation. Remarriage of a widower or a divorced woman is permissible. The Baiswar worship some deities because of their tradition, e.g. Shankar, Ramchandra and Hanuman. In addition, they show reverence for certain local deities, such as Dulhadeo and Badadeo. Ancestors are periodically worshipped.
Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the primary homes of the Baiswar people, are strongly Hindu. Madhya Pradesh has a low Christian percentage and they are hostile to mission activity. Baiswars have a very different worldview than that of the Christians, and only the Lord's Spirit can reveal and convince them of the truth of the Bible.
Pray for the Baiswar to be made aware of God their creator, to understand that he is distinct from his creation and that he alone offers forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ.
Ask God to send Christian believers to the Baiswar who will disciple others in his ways.
Ask God to give the Baiswar dreams and visions to pique their curiosity about God.
